To spirited Kitty, the conditions of her guardian’s will before she could inherit a tuppence were intolerable. However, Cotillion is the most Wodehouse-ish of her books that I’ve read, which probably includes most but not all of her output. I thought she made a lovely heroine, and although she may not have been as feisty and fascinating as Sophy The Grand Sophyor as intelligent and resourceful as Mary Devil’s Cubthe reader is easily won over by her simple kindness and desire to help others.

I listened to it on audiobook read by Phyllida Nash and wow… if you can get your hands on her performance, you should! I wanted sweet-but-dim Dolph to find a woman who loved him for himself not someone who openly declares she doesn’t love him but will look after him like a nanny But Jack, reluctant to be ordered about and to lose his freedom too quickly, doesn’t show up at the meeting, thus offending both Kitty and Matthew.
Of course I always fenced slender figures like Freddy, but I’ll never recapture the magic again, that’s the bitterest pill, what I had read out of these stories is as lost to me as my dreams. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.

It made Freddy out to be more of a dunce then he really was, though I suppose you were supposed to get a hint that most people didn’t view him as particularly bright. I think Freddy has what is better than accomplishments – a kind heart!
I also would have liked to go on to speak about Lord Legerwood yet another marvelous character! It is precisely why when, short on space, I opted to xotillion a bit of dialog form Dolph. At present, Kitty’s opinion of them all is Kitty Charing is a charming georvette lady with a kind heart and warm, open and unaffected manners. Any book that has a character named Uncle Matthew in gergette is all right by me.

Kitty can sneak out to meet with Freddy at the inn, but it’s clear to them and the reader that it’s not quite ccotillion the level. This has been one of the Georgette Heyer books on my TBR list for a while, but I paged through it at the library the other day and realized that I actually had goergette it maybe 10 years ago and pretty much forgotten it, cotilkion for the ending.
Intricate plot with a charming anti hero one of Heyer’s most enjoyable tales well told. She seemed so manipulative–getting Freddy to propose when he clearly didn’t want to. Cotillion is certainly one of Heyer’s lighter, frothier offerings. I do not want neatness and propriety! I wish I had my own copy so I could read it about fifty more times.
I love this book. Few writers are able to match the grace with which she makes common sense so attractive.
Set in the Regency georgeyte, this is a classic tale of misunderstood love and an arranged marriage. If it suits you, you settle down forever. Warning there may be spoilers for in this review.

The thing is, though, I loved Freddy anyway. And the sweetest and the kindest couple ever, in my opinion. This was me finishing my first Heyer ggeorgette.
I could write an entire essay on just her and Dolph!
