I d0 never get the chance to play in Rokugan and I’ve always loved the setting. Recently getting back into the card game just makes me want to play in it even more than usual.

Legend of the Five Rings OGL\D20 Series

d0 I guess we should start talking about what we want for concept, are v20 going with only 1 clan or a small alliance of clans or everything? I’ll see if I can get some more people interested I’m currently running an L5r game, as well as another game, so I don’t have time to run another. That said, I will happily post an c20 should one occur.

If not clear, I’d be down to play in one though. Just never got to actually play as our GM emigrated. So yea, Interestested as a player, would like 4e as well personally.

I will be on hiatus from november 25st until december 20th, posting will be sporadic to non-existent during that time. We need to agree on what sort of game we want to play, are you interested in politics or in combat?

If you’d like to do all of this ,5r there anything you would like to do more? Are you all up to all playing characters from a single clan? As far as non-human characters, they are hard to fit in most games as the game specifically has to involve them.

For example if we’re going on a “Beat the shadowlands” game Nezumi might be fitting, Naga on the other hand probably won’t. The Eras may also affect this. For example if we play during the p5r naga war, or any of the lr where the naga were active a naga would be better fitting than a Nezumi. Also in general the setting is very much made to cater to human characters, non-human characters should be rare at best.

lr5 Don’t you just hate THAT guy? I have no desire to play a weird race or anything. I don’t care about playstyle. I like politics and such just as well.

Playing one clan is alright depending on what clan we go with. The first game involved adventurers in the Scorpion Clan. They were sent on assignment to make sure a top-secret ritual went as planned, and that some sacred Relics did not fall d0 a coming attack by the shadow.

Rokugan anyone? [d20, L5R 4e, anything really]

Unfortunately, they met some cultists disguised magically as Vanarra, and massively messed up the ritual, zombifying a major city instead of binding the Oni to the souls of those living in the city’s hallowed ground. Later, they encountered and slaughtered a wandering troupe of performers enslaved by a powerful Oni, and being branded as traitors to the Imperial Throne.

Sadly, the adventurers died in a trek across a dead-wooded forest haunted by twisted, tortured souls and k5r recently zombies. Originally Posted by Stegyre. You can’t just let me think I’m e20. That’s not how things are done in this age.

Though if people were to agree to it we could create 2 games one with each system. If all the players were the same it would make for an interesting comparison. I’m not sure if Courtiers existed in OA, they are such an important part of L5R but the social mechanics in 3. Originally Posted by Ghost49X. It’s fairly difficult to find a print copy for a reasonable price but it is available through certain -ahem- skullduggery if one is of such a nature. I would prefer a game more faithful to the source material just because I’ve played the CCG and at least somewhat followed the major story arc, but ultimately I just want to play in Rokugan. Every time I’ve applied to a game it’s never gotten off the ground.

From my memory I remember the game was extremely deadly and heavily reliant on roleplaying. If this is the type of game yall are talking about I would like to throw my hat in. With the understanding I will be the noob for a little while. Originally Posted by BriceTheRed. I ran a single adventure in L5R in 4E, I believe it was that edition. They also have the ll5r archers in the empire. Phoenix Master spell casters and priests, they are a peaceful clan with the magical power of a hydrogen bomb. Scorpion The Clan of Secrets, Master Ninja, Spies, and Blackmailing conspirators, if there’s a villain screwing with your plans it’s probably a scorpion Spider These guys sold their o5r to evil in exchange for power.

They are pretty much the only “Evil” Clan in this setting, with most of the clan ether being sociopaths or psychos. Unicorn Masters of mounted combat and horses, these guys are pretty much inspired from the mongol horde.

Fighting these guys is annoying as hell anyone who has played the CCG will attest to l55r. Would prefer the 4th edition.

In addition to the theme of the game and whether or not PCs will be from the same clan, the current time period it also important.

The Oriental Adventures book starts circaif I recall correctly, shortly after the death of Toturi I and the beginning of the Four Winds period before Tsudao declares 2d0 Empress. The slaughter at the Test s20 the Jade Champion hasn’t happened yet and Daigotsu has not to my knowledge lr5 revealed as the engineer of Toturi’s assassination. There’s a lot of 5lr stuff 5lr this time period, but the current storyline has potential as well.

There could also be a lot of fun to be had earlier, perhaps during the Clan Wars. This is really up to the prospective GM, but I feel I should at least mention it. Last edited by Ghost49X; at S20, it had been so long I had to shake the information back into my brain. I really like the Mantis Clan, and would totally be up to all playing from a Minor Clan trying to move up in the world.

Personally that sounds the most fun because each of us would mean more to a Minor Clan than say to a Major Clan that has hundreds, if not thousands, of soldiers. After reading the links provided I retain my vote. Such as the following: Though I’ve got a soft spot for spellcasters in most systems, so that’s probably why.

Even if we will choose full spectrum of schools it would be statistically 2 members of one school per our game.

Personally i think it’s kinda boring But it’s only my statement, if you ale ok with that so I am. Last edited by Kaworu; at Originally Posted by Kaworu.
